Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – West Birmingham and Sandwell Hospital Contract.

 

We have a very exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join the team covering the West Birmingham and Sandwell Hospital contract due to an increase in workload.  

This is a permanent role working full-time at 40 hours per week.

What you will be doing –

  • Undertaking a proactive role in carrying out maintenance, repairs and inspection of mechanical building services. All in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance.
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical and associated building services in accordance with the PPM programme and personal competence and training.
  • Responding in a timely manner to ad-hoc breakdown requests as identified by supervisor / manager or as a minimum, as per site contract.
  • Assisting in Carrying out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works.
  • Assisting in Carrying out systematic fault finding in a logical and safe manner on malfunctioning equipment.
  • Carrying out duties in accordance with safe working practices within statutory and Company guidelines.
  • Safely operating all types of access equipment, hand, and power tools in accordance with health & safety and manufacturers’ guidelines.
  • Ensuring the correct use of personal protective equipment and adherence to health & safety and infection control procedures.
  • Maintaining records and job cards as and when appropriate and required, whether written or electronic.
  • Ensuring liaison with Wards and Departments as required, causing minimum disruption whilst carrying out work.
  • Carrying out risk assessments on-site as instructed by supervisor / manager.
  • Collaborating and co-operate with the partners and colleagues to deliver a customer focused service.
  • Using initiative to make appropriate decisions, including when working out of hours.
  • Completing projects within the allotted timeframes.
  • Carrying out required Authorised Person (AP) duties as required by site management and personal competence.
  • Participating in the Engineer on call rota (Additional Payment associated)

 

Who are we looking for?

  • Previously worked within a Maintenance environment.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Maintenance Services or Equivalent.
  • Worked on Mechanical systems, DHW, LPHW, CHW and Ventilation Systems.
  • Previous Pipe Fitting Duties
  • Worked on Steam Systems (not essential)
