Quantity Surveyor – Greater Manchester

 

We have a very exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Greater Manchester.

This is a permanent stand-alone role working full-time at 37.5 hours per week (flexible office hours!)

As well as a salary of £55,000, you will receive an excellent benefits package including a car allowance. opportunity to progress and yearly bonus.

 

What you will be doing –

Within this role you will take responsibility, ownership and accountability of the successful management and control of all aspects of the commercial / financial and contractual elements of the designated project. This is to control and maximise the company’s profitability, protect the companies legal and contractual obligations under the contracts and to manage proactively the control of all commercial issues. You will ensure applications and valuations are completed in line with the contract terms and liaise with sub-contractors to receive prompt payment in line with our contractual obligations and Commitments to Subcontractors. You will deal with cost reports make sure they are completed on time and monitored whilst understanding, implementing and adhering to the company SHEQ policy/strategy at all times.

Other aspects of the role include -

  • Control all expenditure, cost control, monitoring and reporting.
  • Reconcile cost/value reports and profit forecasts.
  • Assisting the Contract Manager with pre-start planning and programming.
  • Management and control of sub-contract accounts and variation accounts using subcontractor’s database.
  • Change management control
  • Assist and liaise with the buyers on materials procurement and buying opportunities.
  • Develop an understanding of the designated contract, specification and pricing ensuring compliance with conditions throughout.
  • Assist the Contract Manager with subcontractor selection, placing the appropriate order and all required information to carry out their work.
  • Liaise with the Contract Manager over contractual issues and act as required.
  • Measure progress, submit valuations, submit final accounts and retention release, and monitor receipt of payment in a timely manner in accordance with the contracts.
  • Process subcontractor requests for payment.
  • Completing a monthly cost / valuation report and cash flow for the designated projects.
  • Where appropriate, assist with estimates and negotiations for future projects or phases.
  • Ensure the company is neither compromised nor disadvantaged by a contractual or financial arrangement.
  • Manage the costs and financial aspects on a project to ensure both the company and the client is fully advised of the cost situation and correct safety equipment is always used.
  • Ensure timely cash flow management for the Client and the group, and the supply change.
  • Assisting the development and training of trainee and assistant surveyors.
  • Maintain and develop professional relationships with the Client, to help future business development.

 

Who are we looking for?

  • Industry experience in the role of a Quantity Surveyor 3 years +
  • Post graduate experience within a surveying position reporting to either a Senior Surveyor or a Commercial Manager
  • Experience of social housing, including responsive repairs, void refurbishments, compliancy services and planned maintenance works
