Senior Quantity Surveyor – Greater Manchester

 

We have a very exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Greater Manchester.

This is a permanent stand-alone role working full-time at 37.5 hours per week (flexible office hours!)

As well as a salary of £65,000, you will receive an excellent benefits package including a car allowance. opportunity to progress and yearly bonus of 5%.

 

What you will be doing –

Within this role you will report to the MQS/Commercial Manager and manage the day to day commercial control, reporting and management of project from inception to completion ensuring effective and efficient financial management.

You will undertake financial management and accurate reportage in accordance with company procedures and carry out key commercial tasks, such as subcontract procurement and management, site measurement, internal and external valuations, cash collection, management of change orders, cost value reportage and performance reviews. You will be responsible for a small commercial team.

• Maximise profitability and cash benefit for the company whilst promoting the company mission and participating in training and development.
• Building up relationships with site teams, office staff, clients and their representatives.
• Obtaining quotations and completing comparisons.
• Order value negotiations and agreements, ensuring subcontractors price is in line with our supply chain agreements to maximise rebates.
• Appoint subcontractor and complete Pre Order Meeting.
• Administration of various document including payments.
• Monthly valuation assessment.
• Monitor and record works complete.
• Forecasting and Agreement of final accounts and obtainment of Final Account Indemnity form upon completion.
• Completion of initial internal value split within cost value report to determine value within each discipline. Also completion of cost projection for duration of scheme across all elements to establish projected final cost.
• Produce accurate cost information for monthly Cost Value Report.
• Updating internal value in line with most recent projected final account as well as updating projected cost for duration of scheme.
• Ensure Subcontract and Material liabilities are input accurately.
• Completion of Contribution Action Plan.
• Ensure cash position is updated accurately.
• Production of performance review document for senior management, presenting current cost value reports to senior management during performance reviews.
• Accurately record occurrence of any change orders; whether client or contractor led.
• Pricing of change order to establish cost and value.
• Production of early warning notice / change order for submission to client.
• Update Cost Value Report ensuring both cost and value are updated prior to monthly report as well as updating projected final account to be submitted to client with monthly valuation claim.
• Value engineering process to ensure best value for client and to maximise internal contribution.
• Produce accurate information from site measures and subcontract accounts as well as change orders to enable the completion of the monthly external valuations.
• Production of external valuation; ensuring cash position is maximised.
• Update projected final account to be submitted to client with monthly valuation claim.
• Update cash flow to be submitted to client with monthly valuation claim.
• Ensure interim certificate is obtained by the 7^thof the month.
• Produce accurate information from site measures and subcontract accounts and change orders to enable the completion of the monthly internal valuation.
• Production of internal valuations prior to completion of monthly Cost Value Report.

 

Who are we looking for?

• Industry experience in the role of a Quantity Surveyor 3 years + with post graduate experience within a surveying position reporting to either a Senior Surveyor or a Commercial Manager
• Experience of social housing, including responsive repairs, void refurbishments, cyclical woks and planned works with a good understanding of budget forecasting, cashflow and CVR reporting.
